Organizations are moving to more process-based structures. Because information technology is a critical enabler of cross-functional business processes, the transition to increasingly process-based orientations is likely to have significant implications for the structures and processes of IT units. This report summarizes the findings from a preliminary study of the management initiatives of the IT units at twelve firms that are becoming more process-based organizations.
